HPC Training Meeting Open to the Public
Frederick, MD – A required training meeting for members of the Historic Preservation Commission is also open to historic district property owners or anyone interested in historic preservation in general. The training meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 6:00-8:30 PM in the Municipal Office Annex, Conference Room C, 140 West Patrick Street. No registration is required and there is no charge to attend.
Architectural Historian Paula S. Reed, PhD, will be presenting on the following topics:
• The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation
• Identifying contributing/non-contributing structures
• Architectural and historical integrity
• Character-defining features
• Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties and National Register requirements
Paula S. Reed PhD, architectural historian, historian, principal investigator and owner of Paula S. Reed and Associates, has particular and extensive experience with cultural resource evaluation. She holds a Ph.D. from the George Washington University, Washington, DC in American Studies, a program that emphasized Cultural History, American Architecture and Historic Preservation. Paula S. Reed and Associates, located in Hagerstown, Maryland, specialize in preparing National Historic Landmark nominations nationwide.
