On 5-6-14 at about 9:30 PM, an undercover officer with the Frederick Police Department's Drug Enforcement Unit purchased a quantity of what was represented to him as being heroin.
The transaction ensued from a controlled call made by the officer to a suspected heroin dealer, later identified as Riccardo Anthony Wakefield. The transaction took place in a parking lot off Ballenger Creek Pike, and Wakefield was subsequently placed under arrest.
During a search of Wakefield, officers recovered two hypodermic needles and two paper bindles containing suspected heroin. A field test of the substance Wakefield sold to the officer was negative for heroin. The substance will receive further testing at a laboratory.
Wakefield was taken to Central Booking for an appearance before a District Court Commissioner. A booking photo was not available as of this writing.
