The Frederick Police Department would like to remind motorists that April is designated as "Distracted Driving Month" in Maryland. The Frederick Police Department, and other local law enforcement agencies, will be conducting stepped up patrols to identify violations throughout the month. Police officers will be conducting focused enforcement to deter violations and cite offenders. Remember Maryland law requires the use of a hands free device while using cell phones and operating a motor vehicle. Officers will also be on the lookout for other forms of distracted driving and various other motor vehicle violations.
The Frederick Police Department and the Maryland Highway Safety Office are working toward "Zero Deaths" in Maryland due to motor vehicle accidents. These selective enforcement efforts are funded by a grant provided by the Maryland Highway Safety Office and Motor Vehicle Administration. Please drive safely
