Bike to Work Day 2014
Frederick, MD – Don’t miss the annual Bike to Work Day festivities on Friday, May16th! Bike to Work Day encourages commuters to try bicycling to work as an alternative to solo driving and is a free non-profit event open to all commuters in the Washington area. Bike to Work Day, sponsored by TransIt Services of Frederick County, will take place rain or shine. The Ceremonial Ride will begin at 6:30 AM from Hood College proceeding to City Hall to pick up additional riders and end at the Downtown MARC Station. This designated pit stop will have free food, beverages and giveaways. Participants can meet at Hood College at 6:30 AM or join in the group at City Hall at 7:00 AM. There will be 79 other Bike to Work Day pit stops throughout the Washington Metropolitan Region in Maryland, Virginia and the District.
Mayor Randy McClement: “This event has become a wonderful tradition in our City and I look forward to it every year. It is a great way to come together, have fun, and support our bicycle friendly endeavors. I’ll be on my bike and I invite you to join us at Hood College or City Hall to be part of this year’s event. As a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community, we always have cyclists in the area but it’s especially fun to see bikes all over the City on Bike to Work Day!”
