Frederick Police Department makes 4 arrests during protest at the Frederick County Court House
On March 6, 2014, at approximately 10:55 am, the Frederick Police Department and the Frederick County Sheriff's Office were notified of a planned protest to take place in front of the Frederick County Court House. Protesters held signs reading "No Myersville Compressor. No Cove Point"
Protesters notified officers they would be blocking accesses to the Frederick County Court House with the intent of committing a civil disobedient act and wished to be arrested. Prior to the civil disobedient act, event organizers stated they would be peaceful and not resist the efforts of the officers.
At approximately 11:40 am the protesters blocked free passage into and out of the court house requiring the Frederick Police Department to arrest four members of the group. All subjects were issued criminal citations and later released upon their signature and promise to appear in court.
Four people were arrested and charged with willfully obstructing and hindering the free passage of another in a public place or on a public conveyance. This charge is a misdemeanor violation and is punishable by $500.00 and 60 days in jail
