2011 Annual Leaf Collection Campaign
Keep Storm Drain Areas Clear
Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick Department of Public Works will begin the Annual Leaf Collection Campaign on Monday, October 31, 2011 and continue through Thursday, December 22, 2011.
Please note: The schedule will depend upon leaf volume and weather conditions. There is no “set” days or times schedule for specific areas, but leaves will be collected in all areas at least 3 times throughout this period. All City residents may begin to set out leaves for collection on Sunday, October 30, 2011. The last date for residents to set leaves out for collection is December 18, 2011. Residents are asked not to rake large leaf piles into the streets PRIOR to October 30th to avoid overloading the street sweepers.
If you must place leaves in the gutter prior to the scheduled collection dates, please spread them in a lower pile along the gutter to make it easier for the street sweeper to clean the street. Also, spraying the piles down with water will help keep them from blowing away during periods of high wind. Please use off- street parking during this time if available.
Residents and property owners that have a storm drain in front of their property are asked to keep the drain area clear of leaves. This will help reduce the chances of water backing up on City streets.
For additional information, please contact the Department of Public Works at 301.600.1440.
