On February 4, 2014, members of the FPD from various units including Patrol, Victim Services, and the Uniformed Auxiliary, received awards in Glen Burnie, MD for their efforts in Crime Prevention.

The Frederick Police Department is proud to announce the recognition of numerous members of this agency by the Governor and Maryland Community Crime Prevention Institute.

On February 4, 2014, the following members were recognized and celebrated at a crime prevention awards ceremony in Glen Burnie, MD. :

Ms. Suzy Boisclair- Victim Services Unit
Ms. Bosclair has served as a part-time volunteer Victim Advocate for the department's Victim Services Unit since August 2011. She is responsible for responding to serious crimes including Domestic Violence, Felonious Assaults, Strong Armed Robberies, Sex Offenses, and Vulnerable Mental Health Outreach cases. She provides energy and integrity to her position, as is a valuable member of the department. In 2012 she received the Volunteer of the Year award.

Auxiliary Officer/Police Chaplain Patrick Sullivan
Patrick Sullivan has served with the Auxiliary Unit since 2012, and he has been a department Chaplain for even longer. He is dedicated and committed, and has to work with the demands of both being an Auxiliary officer and a Chaplain. He assists with death notifications and offering family assistance. As a member of the Auxiliary, he helps serve as the eyes and ears for the department. He will be called upon to work everything from a regular patrol shift, to any one of many special events, to DUI checkpoints. Auxiliary officers can also be called in to assist with an emergency such as an extensive power outage. He enjoys giving back to the community and assisting the agency.

CPL Rebecca Carrado- Medication Turn in Program
CPL Carrado, along with employees from Whitesell Pharmacy and the DEA, established a partnership in an effort to get prescription medicines out of the hands of those no longer in need. The program was implemented on two separate occasions, and over 3,000 pounds of unused and unwanted medication was collected. Since its inception, almost 10,000 pounds of unused and unwanted medication has been collected. CPL Carrado has been a driving force behind this program, and she continues to move forward even after being promoted and moved to a busy patrol squad. CPL Carrado has worked closely with Ms. Anne Marie Merritt and Ms. Julie Fulton from Whitesell’s Pharmacy. The program could not have been successful without their hard work and dedication.

Agency Award
In addition to the Uniformed Auxiliary individual awards, the Frederick Police Department was also recognized with a Governor’s Crime Prevention Award for incorporating an overall outstanding crime prevention program as an integral part of their daily operations. This award was received for an overall crime prevention strategy involving numerous programs operated across divisions of the agency. The following is a list of programs the Frederick Police Department operates as part of a multi-faceted approach to crime prevention:
