Public Comment Sought for Draft Regional Transportation Priorities Plan
“Transportation Infrastructure Affects All of Us Regardless of How You Travel”

Frederick, MD – Driving a car, riding a bike, using mass transit and walking are modes of transportation that are utilize daily and the Transportation Planning Board at the Metropolitan Council of Governments is seeking public comment on the draft Regional Transportation Priorities Plan (RTPP).
At the Frederick Board of County Commissioners and City of Frederick joint press conference held today, Tuesday, July 30th, County Commissioner Paul Smith and City Alderman Carol Krimm, both Transportation Planning Board members, announced the release of a draft Regional Transportation Priorities Plan for the Metropolitan Washington area and encouraged city and county residents to submit comments regarding the plan.
Mayor Randy McClement said, “As our City grows so does our transportation priorities. This is the public’s golden opportunity to let their priorities, concerns and general thoughts be taken into consideration on the RTPP. I thank Commissioner Smith and Alderman Krimm for their dedication and hard work on the Transportation Planning Board. They are our voice at the table.”
Alderman Carol Krimm said, “We all have a stake in how this plan moves forward. We want a plan that the public can support. I highly encourage the public to provide their comments and let their priorities be known. Transportation infrastructure affects all of us regardless of how you travel.”
The RTPP outlines six broad transportation goals for the region, the most significant challenges standing in the way of achieving those goals, and 15 near-term, ongoing, and long-term strategies that, in the view of transportation planners at the TPB and a group of randomly-selected members of the general public, offer the greatest potential contributions to addressing those challenges.
Members of the public are invited to submit comments on the draft documents by one of the four following options:
• Visiting The City of Frederick website, www.cityoffrederick.com and clicking on “Regional Transportation Priorities Plan Public Comment” found on the left side of the homepage under “Topics of Interest”
• Visit the Metropolitan Washington of Governments website at www.mwcog.org/tpbpubliccomment/
