Frederick’s Most Wanted marks its 300th capture

The Frederick Police Department in partnership with the Frederick News Post marked its 300th capture on July 18th with the arrest of Lee Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan was arrested by the Maryland State Police for possession of CDS. Mr. Sullivan had an open warrant through the Frederick Police Department and was featured as one of Frederick’s Most Wanted on July 7, 2013.

Every other week, as part of the FMW program, approximately four persons wanted by the Frederick Police Department or allied agencies are featured on Sunday in the Frederick News Post detailing whom we are seeking and the charges against them. The Frederick’s Most Wanted program began in April of 2009 and has featured 400 wanted persons, 300 of them being captured to date.

Chief Tom J. Ledwell, Chief of the Frederick Police Department, stated, “The Frederick’s Most Wanted Program has been a successful tool in helping to locate individuals with open arrest warrants in the Frederick Community. This is a testament to the benefit of active partnerships between the Frederick Police Department, the agencies we work with, and the community we serve, as the 300th wanted person featured on the FMW Program is brought into custody.”

The Frederick’s Most Wanted program idea was collaboration between several agencies that attend twice monthly Heightened Enforcement Accountability & Treatment Team (HEAT) meetings. These meetings are held at the Frederick Police Department with local law enforcement and community partners such as: Frederick Police Department, Office of Community Supervision (formally Parole & Probation), Department of Juvenile Services, Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, Maryland State Police, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Brunswick PD, Thurmont PD, City of Frederick Code Enforcement, Community Action Agency and The Housing Authority.

The HEAT meetings are one component of the Safe Streets Initiative. The goal of the Safe Streets Initiative is to reduce crime by identifying and monitoring offenders in the area. The Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention funds the Safe Streets Initiative.
