Copper Sulfate Applied to Lake Linganore and Fishing Creek Reservoir
Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick will be applying 180 lbs. of copper sulfate to Lake Linganore and 4 lbs. to the Fishing Creek Reservoir to treat taste and control odor-causing algae. The copper sulfate crystals will be diluted with water and the concentration of dissolved copper will be sprayed along the shorelines.
The work will take place on Monday, July 15th at Lake Linganore from 9:00AM to 12:30 PM, and at the Fishing Creek Reservoir 11:00AM to 1:00PM.
Both the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and the Lake Linganore Association have been contacted and made aware of when this work will be taking place. In the event of a strong chance of rain, the process will be rescheduled.
