The Frederick Police Department has charged a Frederick woman with theft from the Whittier Elementary Parent Teacher Association.
On October 15, 2012 the Frederick Police Department received a complaint from the Whittier Elementary School Parent Teacher Association in regards to funds missing from the PTA account.
Detective Petruzzello with the Frederick Police Department Criminal Investigation Division was assigned as the lead investigator. Det. Petruzzello was able to determine that multiple checks had been issued and cashed with forged signatures. Det. Petruzzello identified Amy Christine Baker DOB 04/15/1968 as the suspect in this case.
The investigation revealed that Baker previously held the position of President for the Whittier Elementary PTA. Det. Petruzzello determined the total theft from the PTA account, that occurred during the course of Baker’s conduct, was over $10,000.
On 06/11/13 Det. Petruzzello applied for a statement of charges, charging Baker in this case. The District Court Commissioner’s Office issued a Criminal Summons for Baker charging her with one count of theft scheme $10,000 - $100,000. The criminal summons was served on Baker by Det. Petruzzello on 06/12/13.
