The Frederick Police Department has made an arrest in the investigation of an assault which occurred on April 16, 2013.
On 04/16/2013 at approximately 643pm Officers with the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of Maple Avenue and Bentz Street for a fight involving a knife. Officers located a female victim who had been cut with a knife.
The victim advised police, she and the suspect, Eric Scott Harris, got into an argument and subsequent physical altercation. During this physical altercation Harris produced a knife and began waving the knife at the victim. During this altercation the victim sustained cut injuries from the knife.
The case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division for investigation due to the seriousness of the assault. Det. Garcia was assigned as the primary investigator in this case. Through the subsequent investigation Det. Garcia was able to determine that the suspect was Eric Scott Harris.
Investigators believe that the victim and suspect are known to one another and that this was not a random assault.
Det. Garcia obtained charges against Harris for First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment. An arrest warrant was issued by the Court Commissioner. On 04/28/13 at 1205 pm Harris turned himself into the Frederick Police Department. Harris was arrested and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing.
