On 04/27/2013, Frederick Police responded to a reported car fire. Driver was assisted from vehicle, fire extinguished by Fire and Rescue. Driver arrested on multiple charges.
On 04/27/2013 at approximately 0309 hours, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to a reported vehicle fire in the 300 block of Broadway St. The initial officer on the scene, found a vehicle just around the corner on Madison St. with the front end of the vehicle engulfed in flame and the entire passenger compartment filled with thick smoke. The officer attempted unsuccessfully to extinguish the flames and then was able to open the driver’s door and pull the driver from the vehicle to safety as firefighters were arriving on the scene.
Further investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle had struck a parked car, causing minor damage. The nature of the collision left the vehicle incapable of driving forward and the driver spun his wheels with such a degree of speed and force as to cause one of the tires to catch fire, which then spread to the engine compartment. The driver of the vehicle refused medical treatment at FMH ER and was subsequently arrested and transported to Frederick County Central Booking, where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended out of state license, failure to control speed to avoid a collision and other related charges.
