Frederick, MD – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) advises motorists in Frederick County to expect overnight lane closures starting Monday, April 29, as SHA resurfaces northbound US 15 from MD 26 (Liberty Road) to north of Angleberger Road in Frederick County. Weather permitting, the project will be complete by May 30.
The $2.8 million project includes patching, paving and restriping the 7.5 mile section of highway, which was last resurfaced in 1993.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience over the next few weeks while we create a smoother, safer driving surface for the 20,000 northbound drivers, on average, that travel this route every day,” said SHA District Engineer Dave Coyne.
Motorists should anticipate single-lane closures Monday through Thursday nights between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.; occasional, temporary daytime single-lane closures are also possible. SHA will use signs, cones and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone.
SHA’s contractor for the project is Francis O. Day Company Inc. of Rockville. Anyone with questions about traffic operations on US 15 or other State numbered routes in Frederick County may contact SHA’s District 7 office at 301-624-8100 or toll-free at 800-635-5119, or by email at SHADistrict7@sha.state.md.us.
SHA is making it easy to get safety tips and information on the go through Twitter @MDSHA and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MarylandStateHighwayAdministration.
