Officer fo the Frederick Police Department Patrol Division recover loaded handgun, and arrest suspect. CR 13-022906
On 04-13-13, at approximately 1605 hours, Officers of the Frederick Police Dept Patrol Division responded to a report of a weapons complaint in the 300 Blk of Madison St. The caller advised they observed a young African American male retrieve a handgun from under a tarp behind a residence and walk from the area with it. The caller was able to provide a complete clothing description to responding officers.
As OFC D Sullivan arrived in the area, OFC R Brown radioed the suspect was identified as Andre Jermaine Daye. OFC Sullivan, and several other officers, approached Daye and told him to stop walking and show them his hands. OFC Sullivan and the other officers were able to take Daye into custody, at which time Daye assaulted OFC Sullivan, OFC R Brown, OFC Rucci and OFC Weaver. Daye was yelling, causing a disturbance, which led to several residents exiting their homes to see what was going on. Daye then began yelling threats to the witnesses who had reported the weapons complaint to the police.
The handgun was located in the vicinity of Daye where the witness advised he had concealed it, next to an apartment where several small children reside and play. The handgun was found to be loaded and the serial number defaced. Daye was transported to Central Booking for an appearance before a District Court Commissioner where bail was set at $75000.
