Frederick Police Department detectives identify suspect in bank robbery...
On 3/13/13, at approximately 1523 hours, Frederick Police officers and detectives were dispatched to the Sun Trust Bank located at 1700 Rosemont Ave in Frederick, MD for an armed robbery. When officers came into the area, an officer located the suspect vehicle in the area of W. 7th St. and Rt. 15. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect fled. With the help of Maryland State Police and Frederick County Sheriff’s Department, the Frederick Police Department located the suspect vehicle in the 100 block of S. Market St. after a brief chase. No injuries were sustained as a result of the pursuit.
As the incident unfolded, investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division were able to determine the driver, who is also the owner of the car, was the suspect in the bank robbery. The driver, who is also the suspect in the robbery, has been identified as James Raymond Vanwinkle (W/M, 5/28/1976) with a last known address in Greencastle, PA. During the robbery Vanwinkle displayed a note and was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of money.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing; however, the Frederick Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for robbery.
