On today's date the Frederick Police Department arrested a subject for assault and resisting officers, along with various motor vehicle infractions.
On Saturday February 2, 2013 at approximately 1350 hours OFC Kevin Meyer was on routine patrol in the 400 block of West South Street when he noticed a silver Honda pass his location. OFC Meyer noticed a male driving at this point. A short time later OFC Meyer observed the same vehicle at the intersection of West Patrick Street and Degrange Street, now with a female driving and the male who was previously driving now in the passenger seat. OFC Meyer followed the vehicle, which did not stop for a red light in the area. OFC Meyer initiated a traffic stop and identified both the current driver and the male who was previously driving. The male was identified as Bowie, Ricky Darnell (B/M/7-30-81). A driver status check on Bowie revealed that his privilege to drive was suspended and revoked. Other officers arrived on scene and OFC Meyer advised Bowie that he was under arrest. Bowie attempted to pull away and kicked officers several times. Bowie resisted handcuffing efforts but was eventually handcuffed after a brief struggle. A search incident to arrest yielded a quantity of suspected marijuana. Bowie was transported to central booking where he was awaiting a hearing before a District Court Commissioner. The arrestee’s information and charges are as follows:
