Frederick Police become involved in a vehicle pursuit in the area of Hillcrest Dr. and Danielle Dr. The driver and passenger bailed out of the vehicle on foot and were apprehended. The driver had a large amount of cocaine in his possession.
On tonight's date, 01-08-13, at approximately 2149 hours, members of the Frederick Police Department's Drug Enforcement Unit received information that a subject (Ryan Lavar Ritter) was going to be a passenger or driver of a silver BMW 6 series in a shopping center located in the 1300 block of W. Patrick St. Mr. Ritter was known to have an open warrant for VOP from the Frederick Police Department and a warrant out of Pennsylvania for FTA. Patrol Officers quickly located the BMW where it was reportedly going to be. As officers arrived in the area, the BMW was observed leaving the shopping center and turning onto Hillcrest Dr. toward Danielle Dr. OFC Scott McGregor and Sgt. Trapp attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle, but it fled from the officers. After a very short pursuit, the driver and passenger stopped the vehicle in the area of the Hill Street Skate Park and fled from the vehicle on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the passenger was apprehended. The driver, later verified to be Ritter, was apprehended a short time later at nearby residence with the assistance of numerous Frederick Police Officers who set up a perimeter. The Maryland State Police Aviation Division also assisted in the search for Ritter. Once Ritter was located, he was also found to have a quantity of cocaine in his possession. The passenger was released after it was determined he was not in possession of any contraband and did not have any open warrants. Mr. Ritter was taken to Central Booking for processing.
