On 12/19/2012, Det. Petruzzello, of the Frederick Police Departments Criminal Investigation Division investigated a shooting incident where a juvenile male was shot and injured by an acquaintance of his.
During the the course of the above investigation, it was determined there was a witness to the shooting. This person was identified by Det. Petruzzello as Cory Aaron Nowalk. After the shooting occurred, it was determined the handgun used in the shooting was given to Nowalk by the shooter. Nowalk, subsequently gave the handgun to an unidentified person in the attempt to dispose of the evidence.
Nowalk admitted to his involvement and later led detectives to the area where the handgun was disposed of. The handgun was recovered and is believed, at this time, to be the same as the handgun used during the initial shooting. A warrant was issued in regards to Mr.
Nowalk’s involvement on 12/22/2012, charges including:
• Handgun on person (wear, carry, transport)
• Accessory after the fact to a 1st degree assault
Detective Petruzzello with members of CID and Patrol located Nowalk at his residence on 12/26/2012 and served the warrant. Mr. Nowalk was charged as an adult and transported to Central Booking for processing. He was being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and his bond is set at $10,000.
