The City of Frederick DPW Requests Citizen Assistance Due to Impending Forecast

Frederick -- The City of Frederick Department of Public Works is asking City residents and businesses for assistance regarding the impending forecast for possible heavy rains and high winds on Sunday, October 28th and Monday, October 29th.

Please assist the Department of Public Works Operations Department by clearing the leaves and debris from the storm drain intakes near your home and/or business. The combination of falling leaves and possible high winds and rain could result in flooding conditions. The City of Frederick has over 5,000 storm drain intakes and it is imperative to keep the drains open and cleared of debris.

Attached are the known high water areas in the City. Department of Public Works officials are closely monitoring the weather conditions and will take appropriate action when necessary in anticipation of adverse conditions.

The City of Frederick strongly recommends citizens sign up for emergency alerts and other information through “Alert Frederick County”, a citizen alert system for City and County residents managed through Frederick County’s Division of Emergency Management. “Alert Frederick County” is a countywide safe, secure and free emergency alert system.

To sign up to receive emergency alerts, severe weather, and City of Frederick specific police advisories and community messages, go to www.frederickcountymd.gov/alerts and follow the instructions on the County website by clicking on the “Citizen Alert Notification Sign Up” icon. Citizens that opt into the system can select what type of community alerts they wish to receive and designate which devices receive the alerts.

If you have questions when signing up for “Frederick County Alert”, please contact Frederick County Emergency Management at 301-600-1746 or The City of Frederick AV Department at 301-600-3889 and someone will assist you.
