Proclaiming Gun Violence Awareness Day

Proclaiming Gun Violence Awareness Day June 8:

The month of June marks the birthday of Hadiya Pendleton, a teenager who was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15.  To honor Hadiya and remember other victims of gun                           violence, June 8, 2019, has been designated as National Gun Violence Awareness Day. National Gun Violence Awareness Day is also commonly referred to as “Wear Orange Day”; supporters wear orange because it is the color hunters wear to announce themselves to other hunters when in the woods; so orange is a color that symbolizes the value of public safety and human life.Gun_violence_awareness_Day_2019
