FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Weinberg to Display Works by Congressional Art Competition Winners; Host Awards Ceremony
FREDERICK, Md., Friday, April 7, 2017 — The Weinberg Center for the Arts will host winning artwork from the 2017 Congressional Art Competition throughout the month of May. The gallery will be displayed in the venue’s outer lobby; it will be free and open to the public during normal Box Office hours.
Sponsored by Congressman John K. Delaney, the 2017 Congressional Art Competition is open to high school students in Maryland’s sixth congressional district. Entries in painting, drawing, photography, computer-generated art, and mixed media are currently being accepted. All student work will be judged by a panel of regional arts professionals in six areas; artistic expression, technique, creativity and originality, skill, quality of composition and layout, and visual impact. The awards will be presented by Congressman Delaney at a private reception at the Weinberg Center in early May.
To participate, students should submit their work and a Student Release Form to either district office (located in Gaithersburg and Hagerstown) by Friday, April 21. For more information, artwork guidelines, and to obtain the required Student Release Form, visit Congressman Delaney’s website at Delaney.house.gov, call 301.926.0300, or email email@example.com.
